I don’t want a cheerleader

This rant will be short.

There is a song called called “Cheerleader” by OMI.  Everytime I hear it, I develop a nervous twitch and grit my teeth.   In the chorus the artist describes his girlfriend as his “cheerleader”.  The verses describing how his girlfriend does everything for him makes me throw my hands up and jump out of my moving car.

Husbands…   Lets be honest how many times have our wives saved us from a horrible choice or could have but we ignored them.  A Wife was never meant to be a cheerleader!  They are meant to be best friends, confidants, helpers, and far more precious than jewels.  There is a reason we call them the better half. Guys we are dumb, especially young guys.

“All places where women are excluded tend downward to barbarism; but the moment she is introduced, there come in with her courtesy, cleanliness, sobriety, and order. ” ~ Harriet Beecher Stowe

If you want a cheerleader for a wife you are a boy and you are not ready for marriage..

I kinda want a cheerleader : ) just a little…but if that’s all my wife was, it would not be genuine, because I know myself and there are so many things in my life that never need to be cheered…but instead need to be killed (specifically all my own sin).
